About Me

Carlos J. Malave is a strategic educational leader, speaker, and curriculum developer with over 13 years of experience driving culture transformation, curriculum innovation, and systems-level change across K–12 schools, higher education, and workforce development spaces. In his roles as Director of Culture & Community and Head of Education, Carlos has led schoolwide and network-level efforts to build safe, inclusive, and high-expectations learning environments rooted in restorative practices, clarity of systems, and strong relationships.

As Director of Culture & Community, Carlos partnered closely with school leadership teams to design, implement, and sustain culture frameworks aligned to academic goals, student well-being, and staff development. His work included leading restorative discipline systems, developing behavior response protocols, training staff on trauma-informed and relationship-centered practices, and coaching deans, teachers, and administrators to ensure consistency, equity, and accountability in student support. He utilized culture and discipline data to identify trends, guide professional learning, and refine systems that resulted in reduced disciplinary incidents, increased staff retention, and improved student engagement.

Carlos also played a key role in family and community engagement, creating structures that strengthened trust between schools and families through transparent communication, community circles, workshops, and culturally responsive programming. He supported schools in shifting from punitive approaches to preventative, relational, and student-centered strategies, empowering students to take ownership of conflict resolution, leadership, and community responsibility.

In his capacity as Head of Education, Carlos led the design and national expansion of learner-centered, workforce-ready curriculum, ensuring alignment across grade levels while maintaining adaptability for diverse school and organizational contexts. He collaborated with educators, higher education partners, and industry leaders to translate real-world skills—communication, emotional intelligence, resilience, and leadership—into practical, scalable curriculum models.

Carlos is also the founder of Translating Success, where he has coached educators, leaders, and entrepreneurs in developing, positioning, and scaling curriculum. Through this work, he has supported over $1 million in curriculum licensing and implementation contracts, helping clients turn lived experience and expertise into sustainable educational offerings.

A Restorative Practices Trainer and member of the NAMCA Top Speakers Bureau, Carlos has delivered keynotes, workshops, and lectures for schools, universities—including Rice University—and leadership organizations nationwide. His work is grounded in equity, clarity, and community connection, equipping organizations with practical strategies and aligned systems that lead to measurable, sustainable impact.
